On October 9, 2018, Prof. Altus Viljoen, Chairman of the Department of Plant Pathology at Stellenbosch University in South Africa, visited the department to give a speech on Panama disease of banana entitled "Dissecting Foc TR4 intricacies: Evolution, spread and management". Professor Viljoen is an internationally renowned expert on Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. cubense. The visit is especially grateful to Dr. Chih-Ping Chao, Director of the Taiwan Banana Research Institute, for his invitation and arrangement.
